About Luke
Welcome to my page. I'm Luke and I would love to meet you. I'm an avid chess teacher and learner and I love exploring the beauty and poetry of the game with my students. What is your vocation and what are your hobbies? Chess has overlap with nearly everything in life.
My grandfather learned the game when he joined the military, he then taught my mother, and my mother then taught me and I have been playing ever since. I love drawing from my reading of psychology, history, and literature to help show how exciting and *human* this game is.

I utilize the Socratic method of training my students. That is, I love to explore their thought process by inviting them to answer questions about why they made certain moves and then revealing opportunities for growth from there. This is both the most exciting and effective way to learn the game of chess in my experience.
My philosophy is to come alongside the player where they are. There are too many coaches who teach people from their Ivory Tower perspective, leaving many students dazed and confused.
My lessons are for beginners and intermediate players who are looking to accelerate their game and begin to enjoy the game even more than they already do. Chess is a beautiful adventure.
