About Eliana
I have been tutoring students of all ages across a range of abilities and needs for over 7 years. I received my BA from Columbia University in Mathematics and Statistics, as well as my MS from Columbia Engineering in Operations Research (a field similar to Industrial Engineering that involves statistics, programming, and analytics -- with the goal of optimizing business and other types of decisions and decision-making). I am very creative, love to have fun, and always bring enthusiasm and warmth to my sessions.

Before I start working with a student, I ask questions in order to understand the student's academic level as well as confidence level. I believe that learning math is not just about innate ability to grasp a concept, but also about confidence. With the right support, any student can do better! As someone who knows very well that the textbook explanation may neither suffice nor be the best way to explain a concept, I think of, and employ, creative ways to explain difficult-to-comprehend topics so that I can bring it to the student's level. I only move on to a new topic once the student is able to answer correctly several questions from the topic at hand.
