About Isis

My path to tutoring has been a natural one. I completed a DEC before pursuing my degree in political science, which gave me a strong academic foundation in writing, critical thinking and communication in French.

For over a year, I worked at a tutoring center where I helped elementary and high school students with French. That experience taught me a lot, not just about teaching techniques, but about patience, building trust with students, and finding the right way to explain something when the first approach doesn't land. Alongside my university studies, I also work in a primary school, which keeps me closely connected to how younger learners develop their reading and writing skills on a day-to-day basis.

Between my DEC, my university writing experience and my hands-on work in both a tutoring center and a school environment, I bring a well-rounded background to every session, whether I'm helping a 7-year-old sound out words or a Cégep student structure their first dissertation.

About the lesson

About my lessons
Honestly, French has always been more than just a subject to me, growing up in Québec, it's part of who I am. That's probably why I care so much about teaching it well.

Teaching method
I've worked in a tutoring center and in a primary school, so I've seen firsthand that no two students learn the same way. Some need structure and clear rules, others need someone to just slow down and explain things differently. I adapt, that's really the core of how I teach.

Why do I tutor?
My favorite moment as a tutor? That second when something finally clicks for a student. You can literally see it on their face. That's what keeps me going.

A typical session structure
A typical session with me starts by checking in, what's been confusing, what's coming up, what you need most right now. Then we work through it together, whether that's grammar, essay writing, reading comprehension or exam prep. I never just lecture. We figure it out as a team.

Experience
At the tutoring center, I worked with a lot of students — from elementary all the way to high school — so I'm very comfortable switching between age groups and levels. As a political science student, I also write a lot, argumentative essays, analyses, research papers. So if you're in Cégep or university and struggling with academic writing in French, that's actually one of my strengths.

Who are these lessons for?
My lessons are for everyone, from a kid in primary school just learning to read and write, all the way to a university student who needs to level up their French writing.
