My classes are student driven with an emphasis on conversation and comprehension. I incorporate games, videos, and all types of media to keep students exposed to Francophone culture and news and to encourage the ability to discuss our everyday lives in the French language.
After 20 years of studying French and 8 years of teaching it, I have a passion for the language that my students recognize and catch immediately. My students have ranged from pre-school and elementary students, to high schoolers improving their grades, to adults who want to brush up for a trip or build their resumes.

Perfect! I really enjoy my French lessons with Elizabeth. She uses various teaching methods (TV shows, poetry, worksheets, slideshows, comics, etc) that make learning fun and interesting. Highly recommend!
Julia shows great enthusiasm toward the language, obviously practicing above and beyond our lessons. She catches on quickly and responds positively to new challenges. She is a pleasure to have as a student.
Perfect! Elizabeth has been extremely professional and a huge help to me to build on my French skills. She is firm in correcting me, but not at all discouraging. Overall very supportive, positive lessons and I would recommend her to anyone!
Shea shows great enthusiasm and desire to build on his already budding knowledge of French.
Elizabeth taught me French for several years. I couldn't have asked for a more hands-on, thorough, intuitive and well-paced instructor. She even taught my boyfriend at the time French for about 6 weeks to prep for a trip to Paris. She structured it so well, that not once did he have to lean on me to fill in any language gaps. I would likely still be taking lessons from her if I didn't move away. :)
I have studied four languages, including two in college (German and Russian). I studied French for an entire year with Elizabeth Tieri in 2014 prior to visiting France. She was among the best language teachers I've ever had. She makes it fun, and she truly leads the class. She makes sure everyone is given an equal chance to participate. We also watched videos to learn different French accents. She is extremely well educated, but more than that, she is motivating. Very good at correcting pronunciation. By the end of the year we were reading Ionesco's Rhinoceros! I would have continued my lessons with Elizabeth had I not moved away from Chicago.
Elizabeth is a stellar teacher! I had the pleasure of working with her and also being one of her French students. She is fun, knowledgeable and engaging. You will not regret learning from her.
I highly recommend Elizabeth as your next French teacher. French is her passion and it comes across in her lessons. She is fluent and deeply knowledgeable about French culture. You will walk away from each session with so much more than just verb conjugations!
