About Annika

My academic background is a lot different than most. I began college at age 12 and graduated with my degree in Applied Mathematics at age 17. I grew up really struggling with math and not feeling confident in my skills. Later in life, with the help of some wonderful professors and tutors, I discovered a love and understanding for math that I'd never felt before.

As someone who grew up struggling with my ADHD, I love working with students with learning differences. My goal as a tutor is to instill my love for math and confidence in my students to allow them to achieve their biggest goals, whatever those may be.

I've been tutoring consistently for almost 2 years now, and my work tutoring has only grown my love for math. I love seeing students blossom academically and improve their confidence.

About the lesson

I tailor my teaching style to each student’s needs, focusing on understanding core concepts and building confidence. My approach combines step-by-step problem-solving, visual aids (like graphs and diagrams), and real-world applications to make abstract concepts more tangible. I emphasize active participation, encouraging students to ask questions, even the "dumb" ones.

Typically, my first session with a new student is to gauge their confidence level and get a feel for their strengths and weaknesses. I like to learn about my student as a person and tell them about myself to make them comfortable, then transition into learning more about their academic history and goals. I always love to gather resources (like textbooks or homework assignments) before or at the beginning of each lesson to allow me to prepare and get as much out of the session as possible.

I love working with students of all ages, at all points in their academic journey. I specialize in K-12 education. Whether my student is struggling with foundational concepts or needs advanced enrichment, I'm here to help.

While I love tutoring all K-12 subjects, my favorite classes to tutor are Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, all levels of Calculus, and higher level classes like Discrete Math or Number Theo
