About Aravinthan
I am a passionate teacher, a continuous learner, and a voracious reader. As a physicist, I am motivated not only by the “pleasure of finding things out,” but also by explaining them to others. I receive great intellectual pleasure from explaining physical concepts and seeing students understand them. I feel it is essential to keep students involved in the subject, and convey to them not just the information but the concepts and thought processes that make up physics. I taught a wide spectrum of students at the Central University of Tamilnadu and National Institute of Technology, Puducherry. Presently, I am working as a Senior Lecturer and Head, Department of Sciences, Mathematics and Education in St. Joseph University in Tanzania.

My current teaching philosophy - a result of my five years of teaching experience and readings of science education literature, can be summarised as follows:
Student involvement and participation in the teaching and learning process is of the utmost importance in any teaching method. The student should take an active role in the educational process in order to get the most out of it.
The approach that I favour involves:
a) Guide the students through an inquiry and discovery path as a teaching strategy.
b) Help the students discover basic concepts through observation.
c) Help the students develop critical and independent thinking skills.
d) Enhance student involvement in the entire educational process.
