About Carol

With degrees from the world's top music schools, over 10 years of teaching music, and performances across 3 continents, I have the experience to get you results. I seamlessly integrate musicianship, music theory, history, ear training, art appreciation into every lesson.

I hold degrees from the Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT in Piano Performance, First Class Honors with Distinction), the Eastman School of Music (Bachelor of Music, Honors and Double Major in Piano Performance and Music Theory), and the Université de Montréal (Master of Music in Piano Performance, Artist Diploma in Piano Performance), where I am also currently a doctoral candidate.

I am also currently Lecturer at Beijing Normal University - Hong Kong Baptist University United International College.

About the lesson

YOUNG LEARNERS
I've had so many young students coming in saying "I hate music" and after just a month, blossoming into avid learners who can't stop practicing. My student-centered style sparks curiosity and love of learning.

TEEN/ADULT LEARNERS
I've also had teen/adult students who are motivated and understand the material but have "frozen fingers." I combine technique with simplified pop/classical tunes, so that you can play something besides nursery songs at your next dinner party.

ADVANCED LEARNERS
If you are an advanced musician, I can help you achieve your desired results at your next recital, audition, or exam. Moreover, I will teach you how to listen so that you will be able to become your own teacher. My students routinely score well at local competitions and RCM examinations.

Perfect! I've been taking lessons for 6 months now, and can only say good things about my experience. Carol quickly identifies bad habits and offers ways to correct them before they settle; She often advises on time period and/or composer specific interpretations of the pieces in your repertoire, which is always incredibly insightful and helpful. She writes notes to help with the practice out of lessons and she's always reasonably easy to reach if you've hit a roadblock or have a question.

Overall, my experience with Carol has been phenomenal, and I cannot recommend lessons with her enough.
