Hi! My name is Brendan King, and I’m a certified Social Studies educator with four years of classroom teaching experience at the middle and high school levels. I specialize in History, Economics, and Reading support, and I work with students who need clearer explanations, stronger skills, and more confidence in their learning.
My Teaching Approach
I focus on clarity, structure, and student confidence. Lessons are interactive and paced to the student—not rushed and not overwhelming. I break down complex material into manageable parts, use real-world examples, and regularly check for understanding so students don’t just memorize content—they actually understand it.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
Each session is structured but flexible:
Quick check-in and review of goals or upcoming assignments
Direct instruction using guided notes, visuals, and discussion
Skill practice (reading strategies, writing support, test prep, or content review)
Wrap-up with clear takeaways and optional practice strategies
Lessons can focus on homework help, test preparation, content mastery, reading comprehension, or long-term skill-building, depending on student needs.
What Sets Me Apart
Certified teacher with real classroom experience
Strong background in U.S. History, World History, Economics, Civics, and Reading
Patient, professional, and supportive—especially with students who feel “stuck” or discouraged
Experience working with diverse learners and adapting instruction quickly
Clear communication with parents about progress and goals
Who I Work With
Middle and high school students (all levels)
College students needing support in history or social science courses
Students preparing for tests, essays, or major projects
Learners who need reading comprehension and academic skills support
If you’re looking for a tutor who is knowledgeable, structured, and genuinely invested in student growth, I’d be happy to help
