About Aelia

I am a warm, organised, and responsible third-year Economics and Management student at King’s College London, bilingual in English and French, with a genuine passion for supporting young people. I have strong experience tutoring children aged nine and above, and I love helping students build confidence through patient, step-by-step guidance, whether that means supporting teenagers with exam preparation or helping a struggling student gradually raise their grades. My approach to tutoring is deeply shaped by empathy: supporting my younger sister through her learning difficulties taught me how important emotional reassurance, structure, and personalised support are in a child’s development. I try to make learning feel positive and manageable, bringing fun and creativity into homework, and try to make simple routines that make tasks feel less daunting easier. I’ve also taken on leadership roles, supervising groups of students, organising activities, and even helping set up a tutoring platform, all of which strengthened my ability to mentor, motivate, and create encouraging environments. Ultimately, I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to blend patience, communication, and creativity to help children grow academically, emotionally, and confidently.

About the lesson

Being exposed to the reality of learning disabilities through my younger sister, I understand how vital the support of teachers, parents and tutors is to a child’s learning journey. Tutors play a crucial role in helping students build confidence and skills, and there is nothing more rewarding than watching a student succeed in a subject they once found daunting. Being a native French speaker, I tutor and have tutored students for the French Baccalauréat; I was able to maintain an average of 18/20 the whole year in French in première. I came to love and enjoy the technical but literary aspect of the class, achieving a highest honours (mention très bien) on my BAC overall. Having studied in the French school system, including a selective English-language programme for high-achieving students (BFI), I know the value of clear expectations and engaging lessons. I tailor each tutorial to suit my student’s unique learning needs, using a structured, step-by-step approach that builds independence and motivation over time. My aim is always to help my students feel more confident, not just in the classroom, but in themselves. Whether tutoring younger learners or teenagers preparing for key exams, my style is always engaging, professional and targeted. I particularly enjoy helping students develop their confidence with both spoken and written language. Alongside tutoring, I’ve gained valuable experience through babysitting and childcare, helping me create a calm, positive environment where all students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes. I look forward to supporting your child’s learning journey and celebrating each step of their progress!
