About Amy

I am a very enthusiastic student, and during my A-levels I often found myself lost, needing to ask questions on a more one-to-one basis. The teachers who encouraged this made learning so much easier for me, so I aim to create an environment where questions are encouraged and students feel comfortable exploring different methods to discover which works best for them.

I sat my A-levels only a few months ago, and I remember wishing I had someone who had recently been through the exams to guide me on the do's and don'ts, as well as which revision techniques are actually effective.

I hope that my recent experience, alongside my passion for the subjects, will allow me to be a confident and reliable tutor.

About the lesson

During my lessons, I take a proactive approach to learning, one that helped me achieve the highest grade in my year group in Philosophy. Rather than talking at students, which can quickly become tedious for both parties, I will encourage them to actively engage with philosophical and psychological problems through discussion and questioning, this aids in understanding concepts beyond just memorising them.

I adapt my approach depending on the subject. In Psychology, where remembering studies, names and key details is essential, I will promote active recall techniques such as blurting. In Philosophy, the focus is more on developing clear, sound arguments, which are best built through discussion and deep understanding of the issues at hand.

I also place strong emphasis on exam technique and essay structure, as these are just as important to achieving a high final grade as subject knowledge. Lessons can range from 1-3 hours depending on the student's needs.

I am a very passionate student myself, and would love the opportunity to share my knowledge and help other students become more confident and successful in their exams.
