About Sao Mai

While I may be younger, I have a trove of experience. I am versatile to your student's needs and education system. I work well under pressure, which is helpful when a student needs positive reinforcement and guidance during an assignment.

I am friendly, but make it clear that I am not a friend—I engage with all of my students as a mentor and advisor first. While working with students of different ages, I try to grasp where their own foundation was built and go from there. Some students simply struggle because they are operating on a different set of facts than what is used in class!

I am not trained for students with severe behavioral disorders or who are classified as high needs ("low-functioning"). However, I have worked with students diagnosed with different neurotypes. I ensure that I can suit a student's specific nature and thought process to the best of my ability, which has led to drastic improvements in performance and academic success.

About the lesson

I have a history of helping children with learning and developmental disabilities. (Specifically autism, ADHD, and dyslexia [with students formerly taught the Wilson Reading System].) I can guide students through coursework, explain concepts, and help with planning and organization.

I help in subjects such as English/Language Arts, History, French, Mathematics, Photography, and Science.

My past experience includes being a paraprofessional/teacher aid for Pre-K and tutoring ages kindergarten through the start of high school. I work with a significant age range, so I must know at what level your child is at and the curriculum to best serve as your tutor.
