About Sandra

I am a joint honours Psychology + Sociology Undergraduate Student based in Brighton. Experienced in tutoring core subjects up to Key Stage 2 and A-level Psychology and Sociology. I have previously worked for a small tutoring company based in London called Joy Learning which mainly targeted younger primary school students, helping them with Maths and English skills. Due to this I have a thorough understanding of the patience that it takes to explain phenomena to younger audiences and the importance of motivating them and rewarding students for their successes. I have previously studied both Psychology and Sociology A levels and would regularly give after school lessons for year 12 students at my sixth form. I like to provide resources in a range of different formats to reinforce knowledge i.e. starter activities and games. It is also very important to me to have discussions and debates with my students to encourage them to actively interact with the subject being taught, regardless of age group.

About the lesson

I offer my students in person and online sessions through Zoom (online is preferred due to Covid19). In my lessons, I focus on developing the knowledge students already have through debates and discussions and explaining new phenomena through interactive learning. However, each child has a different learning style meaning that sometimes even the best proven methods aren't suitable for your child's needs. Therefore, at the start of our very first lesson I will ask your child a few questions to determine their learning style in order to give them a richer experience learning. The method that suits your child best won't be the only method used, granted, but it will give me a clear indication of how to plan, structure, and deliver my lessons to them personally. Through studying Psychology at a degree level and from personal experience, I am aware that learning can be made a task at school especially if your child has ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia and so forth. It can be quite alienating for them seeing everyone else breeze through but they're stuck or just plain bored! I like to make my lessons fun as well as accommodate them to your child's needs. This is why upon our first meeting, I will ask you (the parent or if you're an A Level student, you directly) if you need any extra support due to any learning disorders that your child may have that can make learning difficult.

If you wish to cancel or reschedule any sessions please do so 24hrs prior the session arranged.
If you have paid for the 5 or 10 hour special deal sessions, they can be distributed as you wish within the space of 30 days and are non- refundable unless you are unhappy with the standard of the teaching that you or your child is receiving.
