About Suzanne

Hello! I’m Suzanne. I am a scientific professional with a PhD in chemical engineering and Bachelors in math, and experience in many STEM fields. I love to be curious and to learn, to puzzle out a question and really understand - and my goal is to share that and help others feel the same.

I have hands on, classroom taught and self taught knowledge in chemical engineering and math …. I also have moderate to advanced knowledge of physics, biology, biochemistry, and chemistry concepts. I love interdisciplinary connections, and as a quintessential liberal arts grad, I also have moderate to advanced knowledge of writing techniques, music (French horn, voice, singing skills (sight reading, ear training, solfège, etc)). I also assist with time management, study skills, test prep (ACT/ SAT/ AP tests). Please inquire if you're curious about my skill in a topic!

I love watching my students understand new concepts and go from frustration to “I can do this”! I know it can be hard and overwhelming, but I believe every student can get to understanding and even enjoyment. I have several years experience as a teaching assistant and as a private tutor, and I tailor the sessions to fit each student's needs. I am a life-long learner myself, and often learn new concepts or refresh old concepts with my students. STEM fields are constantly growing and evolving in their content and the way they're taught, and it's rewarding to find new ways of teaching students that work for them, help them get to understanding and excitement, instead of the boring, stale lessons that are usually taught in school.

About the lesson

Curiosity-driven learning is the most successful, and also the most fun! So we'll engage our curiosities, and move from stuck and confused to the 'aha, I get it! I can do this!'

We'll work on practice problems, talk through reasoning, puzzle out solutions, find sources. We'll always be asking questions, whys and hows - with the big goal a deeper understanding and broader understanding of the concepts and applications.
