About James
I love making math understandable for young learners. I want to teach because I believe that building a strong math foundation early on is crucial for a child's confidence and future success, and I find it incredibly rewarding to see that "aha!" moment when a concept clicks for them.

My approach is all about making learning fun, engaging, and personal. I know that kids in grades 1 through 7 learn best when they're curious and excited, so I tailor every session to your child's unique way of thinking and learning.
For example, let's say your 5th grader in Sydney is struggling with fractions, which can often feel really abstract. In a classroom, it might be lots of worksheets, which can be a bit dull. With me, we'd make it hands-on and visual!
Instead of just looking at numbers on a page, we might grab some colourful LEGO bricks or even cut up an actual pizza to physically represent fractions. We'd build and break apart wholes, seeing how \frac{1}{2} is different from \frac{2}{4}. If your child is a visual learner, we'd draw lots of pictures and diagrams. If they learn by doing, we'd play games that involve sharing objects or dividing groups. We could even go on a "fraction hunt" around the house!
My goal is to build confidence by celebrating every small victory and to make sure math feels less like a chore and more like a puzzle they can solve. We'll move at their pace, ensuring they truly grasp each concept before moving on, so they build a strong foundation without feeling overwhelmed. It's about turning confusion into "aha!" moments, one fun and engaging step at a time.
