About Katie

I am an experienced professional with a strong background in Human Resources, employee development, communication, leadership, and business administration. Throughout my career, I have spent a great deal of time helping people understand new information, work through challenges, develop their skills, and become more confident in their abilities. Those same skills are at the heart of how I approach tutoring.

I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and are not afraid of making mistakes. I provide a patient, respectful, and judgment-free learning environment where students can work at their own pace. If something does not make sense the first time, I am happy to explain it differently until we find an approach that works.

As a professional, I understand the importance of being dependable, prepared, organized, and respectful of your time. I take each student's goals seriously and tailor my approach to their individual needs rather than using the same teaching style for everyone.

Whether you are a student who needs extra academic support, a college student working on writing or business-related coursework, or an adult learner looking to strengthen your professional skills, my goal is to help you feel more capable and confident than you did when we started.

Sometimes all it takes is the right explanation, a little patience, and someone who genuinely wants to see you succeed.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is patient, supportive, and personalized to each student. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I take the time to understand how a student processes information, where they may be struggling, and what will help them feel more confident in their abilities.

My teaching method focuses on breaking difficult concepts into smaller, easier-to-understand steps. Rather than simply giving a student the answer, I ask questions, explain concepts in different ways, and use practical examples to help them understand how to arrive at the answer themselves. My goal is not only to help with the assignment in front of them, but also to teach skills they can use independently in the future.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of what the student is currently working on and any areas where they are having difficulty. From there, we identify the main goal for the session, review the material together, work through examples, and allow the student to practice with my guidance. At the end, we review what they learned and make sure they feel comfortable moving forward.

What sets me apart is my patience, communication skills, and real-world professional experience. My background in Human Resources has taught me how to communicate with people who have different personalities, learning styles, and levels of experience. I am encouraging and approachable, but I also believe in helping students challenge themselves and recognize what they are capable of accomplishing.

My tutoring is best suited for students who need additional academic support, homework assistance, help with writing and communication, study and organizational skills, or simply someone who can explain things in a different way. I am also well suited to college students and adult learners who need assistance with business, Human Resources, professional writing, resumes, interviewing, and career development.

Most importantly, I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions. There is no embarrassment in not understanding something the first time. My job is to find the explanation that makes it click.
