About Haoyue

Hi! I’m a native Mandarin speaker from China. I’m currently an international postgraduate student in Sydney. I would describe myself as friendly, patient and easy to talk to.

Back in China, I had experience tutoring children. This taught me how to explain things clearly and gently. I know that learning a new language can feel awkward at first, so I want my lessons to feel relaxed and supportive.

I like teaching Mandarin through real-life situations. For example, we can practice ordering food, introducing yourself, chatting with a friend, or understanding simple phrases from Chinese dramas and daily conversations.

I want to teach Mandarin because many international friends are interested in Chinese language and culture. I think sharing a language is also sharing a way of seeing the world. It feels meaningful to help students use Mandarin in real life and slowly build confidence.

About the lesson

Learning Mandarin does not have to feel like sitting in a serious classroom and memorizing a long word list. I prefer to make my lessons feel more like a relaxed conversation, with small real-life situations that students can actually imagine themselves using.

For example, we might practice how to order bubble tea, introduce yourself to a new friend, ask for directions, talk about food you like, or understand simple phrases you may hear in Chinese dramas, short videos or daily conversations. I will also include some natural spoken expressions, such as “méi guān xi” — no worries, “zhēn de ma?” — really?, and “tài hǎo le!” — that’s great, so the Mandarin you learn feels more alive and less like textbook language.

My lessons are especially friendly for beginners. You do not need to speak perfectly. You can guess, laugh, make mistakes, and try again. I care more about helping you feel comfortable opening your mouth and using Mandarin in real situations.
