About Ashante

Hi! My name is Ashanté, and I am a 2nd-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) student specialising in Intermediate Phase Teaching. I am passionate about education and enjoy helping learners understand concepts that they may initially find challenging.

Through my studies and practical teaching experience, I am developing my knowledge and skills in working with learners and creating lessons that are clear, engaging and suited to different learning needs. I believe that every learner learns differently, which is why I approach tutoring with patience, encouragement and flexibility.

I offer tutoring to Grade 4–6 learners in English, Afrikaans, Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Life Skills. I am proficient in both English and Afrikaans and can conduct lessons in either language according to the learner's needs.

My goal is to create a friendly and supportive learning environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence. I focus on helping learners understand the work rather than simply memorising answers.

Whether your child needs assistance with homework, revision, test preparation or additional support with a challenging subject, I will work at their pace and adapt my approach to help them make progress.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to be patient, supportive and learner-centred. As a B.Ed Intermediate Phase student, I understand that every learner has their own strengths, challenges and learning pace. I aim to create a comfortable environment where learners feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes and learn without feeling embarrassed or pressured.

My teaching approach focuses on understanding rather than simply memorising. I use clear explanations, examples, questions, guided practice and activities to help learners understand difficult concepts. I adapt my lessons according to the learner's needs and can provide additional support with homework, revision, test preparation and areas where the learner may be struggling.

I am proficient in English and Afrikaans and can teach in either language, depending on the learner's needs and preferred language of learning.

A typical lesson will begin by identifying what the learner already understands and where they need assistance. We will then work through the topic step-by-step, using examples and practical activities where appropriate. I encourage learners to participate and explain their thinking rather than simply giving them the answers. Lessons will end with a short recap or practice activity to reinforce what we have covered.

My lessons are aimed at Grade 4–6 learners, particularly learners who need additional academic support, help understanding challenging concepts, assistance with homework, or preparation for tests and assessments.

My goal is to help learners not only improve academically, but also develop greater confidence in their own abilities and become more independent learners.

Details

My tutoring rate is R120 per hour for both online and in-person lessons.

For in-person lessons, an additional travel fee may apply depending on the distance I need to travel, as I make use of Uber for transportation. The travel cost will be discussed and agreed upon with the parent or student before the lesson takes place.

Online lessons via webcam are available at the standard rate of **R120 per hour**, with no additional travel costs.

I aim to provide affordable, personalised and supportive tutoring while ensuring that each lesson is tailored to the learner's individual needs.
