About Georgina

I was born in Bath in England and am a professionally trained actress with a B.A. in Drama and Theatre Studies from The Webber Douglas Academy in London (alumni of Hugh Bonneville and Antony Sher amongst others). I am also a qualified TEFL teacher and specialise in helping adults to use their voice to its full potential and to speak English as beautifully as possible. I speak English with a British R.P. accent (Received Pronunciation) or sometimes known as Queen"s (King's?) English. There is only one correct way to pronounce each word in English (but of course many regional variations). 'Correct' may not be the most appropriate word as, of course, any regional variations are not 'incorrect'. Perhaps 'accurate' or 'exact' is better. Whatever we call it this is my method and it has proved to be extremely successful over the years. After leaving Drama School I worked for many years in British Theatre, Television and Films. I then moved to the South of France where I started a Theatre School which I ran very successfully for 10 years with my sister who was also an actress. For personal reasons I returned to Britain and started my online teaching business. I have been teaching English to advanced learners (lawyers, politicians and interpreters etc. also anyone who wants to perfect their English to a high level). My lessons also include, presentation skills, speech and accent improvement and generally speaking English with a high level of competence and confidence.

About the lesson

All of my lessons are tailor made to suit the goals of the individual. Everyone has a different reason for taking lessons. You may require extra confidence for your job or in communicating with others. Some people may wish to change their voice and delivery quite considerably, while others may just need to adjust a few key sounds in order to deliver a particular speech. Whatever the reason, my approach is always the same. The client must have reasonable expectations of what they hope to achieve, bearing in mind that everyone has a uniqueness to their voice, and together we will achieve its greatest potential. Over the years I have developed a unique method of assessing exactly what you will need to improve your voice. This will be done during the initial lessons and by using recordings, the client will be able to identify the 'sounds' that need to be rectified. Through the use of appropriate texts, breathing, relaxation and focus exercises we will gradually build up confidence and eventually be speaking in unrehearsed conversation with clarity and authority. It is important to realise that most people (who are untrained) use only a small part of their voice's 'range'. This is like only playing a single octave on a piano when in fact we have many octaves to use. The voice has so much more potential than most people realise! We will work together to eliminate this narrow range. Also, we will work on getting rid of any bad habits and introduce new ones. Gone will be your tense breathing and tight quiet voice. Gone will be your stumbling or mumbling or repeated use of discourse markers (so! um! er! well!) and gone will be your loss of concentration and inability to find the right word. It is rather difficult to give a discounted rate until I know how many sessions may be needed. I can certainly apply discount on multiple lessons paid in advance. I suggest a minimum of 6 lessons to begin with and for this I will charge £275 and for a course of 12 £600
