About Lucian

My name is Lucian Waters. I’m a full-time recording artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. I spend my time producing and performing my own original music. I graduated from Tufts University in 2021, where I minored in music, and played in jazz ensembles. I also spent the summers playing jazz piano twice a week at a fine dining Italian restaurant in Washington state. I have experience teaching piano lessons to people of all ages and skill levels. I can also teach music production/recording for R&B/Hip-hop if students are interested. I believe that music lessons, especially for beginners and children, should be fun!! Only once students learn to enjoy their practice and want to accelerate their progress do I get into the more technical learning.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to inspire you to find the joy in creating music. I use songs of your choice to help you learn ear training and music theory concepts. My goal is to help you get in touch with your musical instincts (yes you have them!!) and I believe that excess technical in the beginning can often hinder students. Depending on students' interests my lessons have covered pop covers with singing, jazz standards with improvisation and learning movie/video game soundtracks.

Perfect! Growing up, I was trained in piano with the classical approach. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn piano at a young age, but it left a lot to be desired.
From the first lesson, Lucian understood exactly what I was trying to learn and accommodated my desire to learn how to improvise and play piano. For the first time in my life, I’m actually learning skills that will help me play any song I desire by helping me understand the basics of music theory and ear training. Lucian has also been great with kids. As an older kid, he was a babysitter, and generally one to engage and entertain younger kids.
As a teacher, Lucian will undoubtedly keep things fun and be able to help any students with their musical journey. He has had a variety of teachers himself, and has a minor in music from Tufts University.
