About Chihomi

My experience living and working in both Japan and Canada has given me a deep understanding of cross-cultural communication and the challenges that language learners face. Having learned to navigate life in a second language myself, I understand the importance of patience, encouragement, and practical communication skills.

I believe that language learning should be both effective and enjoyable, and I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and growing from them.

About the lesson

Hello! My name is Chihomi, and I am a native Japanese speaker from Osaka, Japan currently living in Toronto.

I recently completed a 420-hour Japanese Language Teacher Training Program in Japan and hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Queen's University. Having lived in both Japan and Canada, I understand the challenges language learners face and strive to create lessons that are practical, supportive, and tailored to each student's goals.

My teaching approach focuses on communication, confidence-building, and sustainable learning habits. I help students understand how Japanese is actually used in real-life situations. I adapt my lessons to each student's interests, learning style, and objectives, whether they are preparing for a trip to Japan, studying for the JLPT, learning for work, or simply enjoying Japanese culture.
