About Eliza

My name is Eliza and I'm a native English speaker from the United Kingdom. I became a qualified teacher of English as a foreign language 2 years ago and have experience teaching students from all over the world face-to-face and online. Most of my work has been in the UK and France but I've taught students speaking a wide variety of Asian and Eastern European languages too.

I'm currently studying a masters degree in history at the University of Cambridge and I received my undergraduate degree from the University of East Anglia. I love talking about everything to do with history, music and current affairs, and my hobbies include playing the piano and dance. I'm also learning French, so I completely understand what it's like to be a language learner!

My priority will be adapting my lessons to your personal needs and learning style. I really enjoy helping students achieve their own specific goals, whether they're personal like travel, educational like passing an exam, or professional like delivering an important presentation. Whatever you need, I will be able to help! The best part of being a teacher is getting to meet so many different people from different places - I love talking to students about their interests and passions, and incorporating these into my lessons.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is all about flexibility and patience - I will work hard to incorporate your suggestions and find the best way to match my lessons with your learning style and personal goals. Finding the confidence to communicate effectively can be more important than being 100% accurate, and we will find the right balance between accuracy and fluency for you.

I also believe the best way to learn English is using the same materials as native speakers themselves and learning how to navigate situations you will find in the real world. Therefore, I will incorporate a variety of authentic materials to develop your reading and listening skills, as well as tasks to apply your speaking and writing skills to the real world and improve the grammar that is useful in your everyday life.

As well as this, it is really important that you work on your English skills often in order to make speaking English an everyday habit, so I will provide you with advice and resources to use outside of lessons when you can.

Whatever you need from your English lessons, we will work together to find the right formula for you so that you can achieve your language learning goals.
