About Calvin
I am a Pharmacology graduate from the University of Bristol with a strong background in Chemistry, Biology and other sciences. Throughout my studies, I developed a real interest in understanding complex topics and breaking them down into simpler, more manageable ideas.
I want to teach because I genuinely enjoy helping people and seeing them make progress. I know that a lack of confidence can sometimes be just as much of a barrier as the subject itself, so I want to support students who may be struggling and help them develop the confidence to believe in their own abilities.
I am particularly interested in teaching GCSE Maths and Chemistry because I can help students develop both their understanding and their exam technique. My aim is not just to help students get the correct answer, but to help them understand how and why they reached it, so they can approach similar questions independently in the future. Ultimately, I want to make a positive difference by helping students feel more confident, improve their skills and achieve their goals.

My approach to tutoring is friendly, patient and focused on building confidence. I understand that GCSE Maths and Chemistry can be tricky, especially when a student is unsure about a specific topic, so I like to break topics down into clear, manageable steps and work through them together.
I will adapt my lessons to each student’s individual needs. Whether they need help understanding a topic, practising exam questions, or preparing for an upcoming test, I will identify the areas they find challenging and focus on improving them step by step.
I encourage questions and create a comfortable environment where students can make mistakes, ask for clarification and learn from them. I want to make sure lessons are interactive, especially as I learn visually so understand how important participation is into quality learning.
As a Pharmacology graduate, I have a strong background in Chemistry and the sciences, and I am confident in explaining scientific concepts clearly. My goal is for every student to finish a lesson feeling more confident and better prepared to tackle questions independently.
