About Arjen
I hold a PhD in Aerospace Engineering and Physics and have applied my skills across industries—from working on advanced systems at NASA, Ferrari, and Porsche to developing patented innovations in air purification and fluid mechanics. I grew up hands-on, surrounded by mechanical systems, and have always combined deep technical knowledge with out-of-the-box thinking. This mindset led me to create my own hardware startup, AirTulip, featured on Shark Tank. I love teaching and have done so since high school—explaining complex ideas with clarity, real-world analogies, and systems thinking. I bring both rigor and intuition to help students not only solve problems, but truly get them.

As a PhD in Aerospace Engineering and Physics, I don’t just help students solve problems—I help them understand what’s behind them. My method begins with listening: what exactly is tripping you up, and why? From there, we explore the concept from multiple angles—visual, verbal, physical—until it clicks. I often use real-world metaphors, cross-industry examples, and layered explanations to match different levels of intuition.
My favorite course at UC Berkeley was “Order of Magnitude Estimation”—it taught me to think critically and creatively: Does this answer make sense? What would I expect? I try to bring that mindset to every student I teach, building not just academic skills but confidence in reasoning and decision-making.
Lessons are ideal for high school (AP/IB), university students in physics or engineering, or adult learners looking for a more intuitive and applied approach. I emphasize systems thinking and the “why” behind the formulas—so students don’t just pass the test, they get it.
