About Andrea
My career experiences both inside and outside the classroom have given me strong content knowledge in the life sciences and has led to the development of teaching methods that most students find easy to engage with.
I have a PhD with over 25 years in genetics and cell biology research. Since I am a 'people person" I decided to go into teaching 10 years ago and received a Masters in the Art of Teaching. Since then, I have taught Biology, Chemistry and Biotechnology at the High School level. I now teach Genetics at the University level.
My students have always enjoyed my teaching style and find that I can explain abstract concepts and problems in a clear way.
In addition, I enjoy tutoring middle school math.

My online teaching method is student centered and has minimum lecture time. After I introduce a concept and why it is important, we will use the "I do, we do, you do" approach to problem solving.
These lessons are for high school and college students who need support in any of the following areas: Biology (including College level Cell Bio, Genetics, Biotech, Molecular Biology and Anatomy and Physiology) and General Chemistry.
