About Mauro
Currently I am a 4th year PhD candidate in Materials Science at Imperial College London, wherein my research focuses on the the synthesis of the next generation of semiconductors and magnets. My expertise ranges from inorganic chemistry to quantum physics, however with a distinct engineering perspective. During my PhD, I have been teaching in more than 20 courses across two departments from Y1 to master's level, while in parallel tutoring and mentoring two final year students. I hold a first class honours bachelor's and a distinction master's degree in Materials Engineering from University of Trieste, Italy.
My teaching experience made me realize that often I am the one that learns the most from the enthusiasm of a student. My task is nurture this enthusiasm and makethe pupil achieve their objectives, while having a little bit of fun in the meantime!

During my classes, I create a comfortable a collaborative environment for my student by assessing strengths and weakenesses first, and then outline a long-term strategy to tackle issues and boost confidence. I also connect maths, physics and chemistry problems to my own research to make the student understand real life implications of science.
