About Serena
Currently a PhD candidate in laboratory medicine and pathology at the University of Alberta, with a Bachelor in medical sciences from Western University. Passionate about helping others understand the sciences better, and potentially discovering their own interest in STEM subjects! Besides teaching math and science to students from 5-18 years old, I've also taught RCM piano for 8+ years and led children's group music classes at the Stollery Children's Hospital.

I've been a personal tutor for high school level math, biology, and chemistry for over 6 years and have brought my student grades up from the 70s to the 90s. I love helping others understand class material better and gain confidence in STEM subjects! I typically get the course outline and structure each lesson around specific topics my students struggle with, and/or an overall summary of the material for upcoming evaluations. I initially struggled a lot with my first unit in Biology 30. I was recommended Serena by a peer due to her expertise in the field of molecular genetics and physiology.
