Methodology

Duration : 1 hour - Price : $30.00 - Place : San Diego (92126)I've got a PhD in Biology, totally love the subject, and have been teaching at the college level for decades. I'm a good instructor/tutor because I know the material and am good at explaining biological phenomena in words everyone can understand. From molecules through cells and ultimately to ecosystems and biomes, I can help you learn and appreciate concepts and mechanistic details. It's cool stuff!

I'm outgoing and fun, and will put you at ease. Plus I'm passionate about the material, and passing it on to others, and so will never be boring. Regarding teaching methodology, I first make sure I completely understand the material. Second, I use pictures - PPt slides and ones I draw - and words to explain things so that students really understand the material; understand it well enough to explain it to a family member or friend. I'll provide examples, and say the same thing three different ways, and link it to other material in different contexts, so students can play with material in their own heads. Third, I ask students questions, to get at what they know and what they need help with, and to facilitate their thinking critically about what they have learned. And lastly, I provide enthusiastic encouragement along the way, and rewards of acknowledgment of jobs well done.
