About Alireza
I’m Alireza—an Economics PhD candidate at Toronto Metropolitan University and a university lecturer with nearly two years of teaching experience at Algoma University’s business school and at TMU (including online delivery). I’ve taught and supported students across graduate-level economics (micro, macro, econometrics) and university mathematics (Calculus I–II, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra), and I specialize in turning difficult concepts into clear, step-by-step methods you can use on assignments and exams right away.
What I teach
Economics: Micro (UG & Grad), Macro (UG & Grad), Econometrics, Time Series, Public/Health Economics basics
Math for Econ/Business: Calculus I–II, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Probability/Statistics
Empirical skills: Stata, R, and Python for data cleaning, regression, visualization, and reproducible workflows
Teaching approach
Problem-driven & exam-ready. We start from your syllabus, past tests, or problem sets and build the solution method from first principles. I show the quickest correct approach and common pitfalls, then we practice with variations so you can handle curveballs.
Intuition + method. I combine graphical/economic intuition with formal steps (definitions, theorems, conditions) so you know why a solution works and how to replicate it under time pressure.
Active learning. Short, low-stakes checks (1–2 minutes) during the lesson ensure we fix gaps immediately rather than discovering them the night before the exam.
Efficient notes. I provide tidy, structured notes (or annotated screenshots) with boxed formulas, solved exemplars, and a mini-checklist for each topic.
How a typical session works
Quick diagnostic (5–10 min): You show me the exact topics/questions giving trouble.
Targeted walkthrough (30–40 min): I model a clean solution path, highlighting assumptions and shortcuts.
You drive (20–30 min): You solve parallel problems while I coach and correct.
Wrap-up (5 min): A concise recap + a short practice set for confidence between sessions.
For grad students / thesis & projects
Topic scoping, data strategy, variable definitions, and literature positioning
Stata/R/Python: do-files/scripts, robust standard errors, panel/time-series workflows
Reproducibility: project folders, versioned code, and figure/table pipelines
Formats & availability
Online (preferred) with interactive whiteboard and shared documents
Toronto-area in person may be possible by arrangement
Flexible scheduling; intensive exam prep blocks available
Results you can expect
Clear procedures for each topic (what to write first, how to structure proofs/derivations, which checks to do)
Faster, more reliable problem-solving under time limits
Stronger understanding that carries from homework to midterms/finals—and to advanced courses
If you’re tackling micro/macro theory, econometrics code, or a tough math unit, I’m happy to help. Send your syllabus or sample questions, and we’ll build a focused plan to get you confident and exam-ready.

Before we meet
Send me your syllabus, topics, past exams/assignments, and (if relevant) code or datasets (Stata/R/Python).
I’ll map a mini-plan: key learning goals, the exact problems we’ll tackle, and a short checklist.
How a typical session runs (60–90 minutes)
Warm-up (5–10 min): quick diagnostic to pinpoint gaps and pick the right starting problem.
Guided walkthrough (25–35 min): I model a clean, exam-ready method (definitions → steps → checks) and show common pitfalls.
You drive (25–35 min): you solve parallel questions while I coach, correct, and shorten your steps.
Speed check (5–10 min): timed mini-problem to build exam rhythm.
Wrap-up (5 min): you leave with a one-page recap (key formulas, steps, and “red flags”) + a short practice set.
What I bring
Problem-first approach: we start from the exact questions you face and generalize methods from there.
Dual focus—intuition + rigor: economic intuition/graphs paired with formal derivations and proofs where needed.
Quant & code support: econometrics workflows (Stata/R/Python), reproducible do-files/notebooks, readable tables/figures.
Study systems: spaced practice sets, exam checklists, and “last-48-hours” review plans.

I strongly recommend Alireza to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, reliable, and supportive calculus tutor. I had an excellent experience working with him for my undergraduate calculus course. He explains concepts with remarkable clarity and always finds a way to break down difficult topics into steps that actually make sense. What stood out to me most was how patient and encouraging he was during every session. No matter how many questions I had, he never rushed me and always made sure I truly understood the reasoning behind each solution.
Alireza uses examples that feel intuitive, and he adapts his approach based on what you need in the moment, sometimes walking through problems slowly, other times giving helpful shortcuts or alternative ways of thinking about the material. His support made a noticeable difference in my confidence and performance in the class.I worked with Alireza as my tutor for a university-level macroeconomics course, and I recommend him with complete confidence. He creates a comfortable learning environment and has a clear, patient, and structured teaching style that makes even difficult concepts accessible.
One moment that stood out was when we tackled a challenging chapter on aggregate demand and supply. He broke everything down step by step and used real examples that finally made the material click for me.
Alireza is knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in his students’ success. I made meaningful progress thanks to his guidance, and I highly recommend him to the Superprof community.Alireza is a patient, knowledgeable, and dedicated teacher who explains concepts clearly and makes learning math engaging. He is trustworthy, always well-prepared, and genuinely cares about his students’ progress. His ability to adapt his teaching style to each student’s needs makes him an excellent tutor for learners of all levels.
My experience with Alireza was excellent. He is very knowledgeable, patient, and explains math concepts clearly, which makes learning easy and enjoyable.
