About Mohsen
During my PhD study I was the teaching assistant of two courses, Fluid Power Technology and Mechanical Power Transmission. These courses are offered to undergraduate students in Engineering Technology and Industrial distribution at The Texas A&M University and contains many challenging assignments and projects. Holding this position was a great opportunity for me to share my knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering with students. My duties in this position included instructing the lab, Preparing lecture presentations, administering quizzes and grading exams and weekly lab reports. Moreover, I helped students with conceptual and technical questions outside the classroom, guided students in the solution of homework assignments, helped students in the preparation of exams.
From September 2006 to January 2010, I was a lecturer in the department of Mechanical engineering at the Valliasr Technical College, Tehran, Iran. I taught three undergraduate courses there: Statics, Mechanics of Materials and Machine Design. In all my lectures, I built a very friendly and at the same time professional relationship with my students, explained the course material with examples and simple experiments, gave them confidence, and motivated them to learn, discover, and enjoy the beauty of science and engineering. I started the Robocop group, leading students to develop their ideas and make their ideas into reality. One of the results of this team project was to fabricate a “robot” based on an original idea, which was registered in the Iran Patent Office as “A hospital bed which facilitates patient movement between beds”. I also supervised four theses.
During my graduate and undergraduate studies in Sharif University of Technology, I had variety of instructional experiences. I received a teacher assistantship for two mechanical engineering courses; static, and mechanics of materials. I tutored several college students in Calculus, Fluid mechanics and Heat Transfer for four years. It helped me to experience a one-on-one interaction with students. Also, I worked in the Robotics Laboratory as a member of the Sharif university Rescue Robocop team. I have some experience teaching high school Physics and Geometry. Teaching science and engineering to students at the high school level gave me the opportunity to experience simplifying complicated phenomena to make them understandable and enjoyable.

I graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University in December 2015 with a Doctor of Philosophy degree. I thoroughly enjoy teaching as it enables me to help students that are enthusiastic in their learning and they appreciate it when they succeed. I also enjoy having the opportunity to share my knowledge with these students and I am always eager to accept any teaching opportunities.
The ultimate goal of a teacher is to inspire students to discover the knowledge within themselves. The teacher should not only explain fundamentals and course materials but also encourage the students to think and contribute in class. Consequently, the students will be highly motivated, grasp a deep understanding of the subject, and enjoy the course. To this end, I will honor the following aspects as a teacher:
• Students’ engagement in class is vital for their progress. Thus, I will encourage them to ask questions. Questions invoke discussions that can help to clarify the information and enable me to gauge their understandings.
• Alternative and better ways always exist to solve problems, and I inspire students continuously to seek for creative solutions with thinking, hard work, and perseverance. Meanwhile, I train them to be meticulous and focus on the practicality of their solution.
• Assignments are essential tools for learners to enhance their skills in solving problems.
