About Danielle

I am a PhD-qualified environmental geochemist with an international academic background and extensive experience working with students at secondary and university level. I am currently based in Southeast Asia and offer online lessons to students across Asia, Australia, and internationally. I completed my undergraduate degree in the UK (University of Liverpool), followed by a PhD in Environmental Geochemistry at the University of Vienna. I then carried out postdoctoral research in the United States at the University of Delaware. Throughout my academic career, I have taught, supervised, and mentored undergraduate and master’s students, supporting them in both coursework and independent research projects. My background combines strong subject expertise in chemistry and environmental science with a clear, student-focused communication style. I am particularly experienced in helping students understand complex scientific concepts, develop analytical thinking, and gain confidence in applying their knowledge. I take a professional, ethical, and supportive approach to tutoring. Whether working with IB Diploma students or university students, my goal is to help learners develop independence, clarity, and strong scientific reasoning skills. I now offer online tutoring for IB Diploma Chemistry and Environmental Systems & Societies (ESS), A-level Chemistry, and university-level project mentoring.

About the lesson

My Teaching Approach & Lesson Structure My lessons are structured, concept-driven, and tailored to each student’s goals, whether exam preparation, internal assessment support, or university-level project mentoring. Teaching Methodology I focus on building deep conceptual understanding rather than rote memorisation. Complex chemical and environmental concepts are broken down clearly, linked to real-world examples, and reinforced through guided problem-solving and discussion. Where appropriate, I use IB-style questions and exam strategies to help students apply their knowledge effectively. For IB students, I align lessons closely with the IB Diploma syllabus and assessment criteria, including support with Internal Assessments (IAs). For university students, I adopt a supervisory mentoring approach, supporting research design, data interpretation, and scientific communication while maintaining full academic integrity. Lesson Structure & Length Lessons typically last 60 minutes, though longer sessions can be arranged for intensive revision or project-based work. Each lesson includes: A brief review of key concepts Targeted teaching of new material Guided practice or discussion Clear next steps or follow-up tasks Who My Lessons Are For My lessons are suited to: IB Diploma Programme students (Chemistry and Environmental Systems & Societies, SL/HL) A-level Chemistry students Undergraduate and master’s students requiring support with environmental science, chemistry, or research projects I typically work with upper-secondary and university-level students who are motivated to improve their understanding and performance.
