About Jonathan
I'm 26 and was born and grew up in Shropshire. I'm always interested in learning new things but have a wide range of other interests. I'm a keen musician, playing the piano and guitar, and love to act on stage. I used to live in Switzerland and got really into hiking there, as the mountain scenery is beautiful. I love to travel whenever I can; I'm on 31 countries and counting!

I've just finished my PhD in Particle Physics and am looking to help others to get to grips with science and maths at whatever level they're at. Hopefully I can also pass on some enthusiasm for these subjects and have been involved with lots of science outreach activities, including as a tour guide at CERN. I have previously tutored GCSE maths, at university I regularly assisted outreach sessions with school students, and have since been a tutor for Physics students in the first year of their degree. Though physics is my speciality, I am able to teach all the sciences, particularly maths, and have A-levels in these. I also programme a lot in my work, mainly in Python, so can help with this too. I have attained Associate Fellow of Advance Higher Education in recognition of my university teaching and I now assess applicants for this award. I try to tailor my teaching to match the requirements of the student and can be quite flexible in terms of style. I believe that if you go in with an open mind, you can surprise yourself with what you can achieve. I'd like to think I'm super friendly and approachable and I try to break down the student-teacher boundary.
