About Hélène
I am a historian of archaeology, science and popular culture and an archaeologist with over twelve years of fieldwork experience. I have over seven years' teaching experience in higher and further education in the United Kingdom where I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate students in history, archaeology, science and technology studies and liberal arts degrees. I am moreover an experienced academic writing tutor with four years’ experience in teaching academic writing and research skills to students at all levels (BA/BSc, MA/MSc, PhD). I have advised on and marked hundreds of exams and assignments over the years, providing me with in-depth knowledge of what makes first-class academic writing. I also offer help with essay and dissertation planning, overcoming procrastination, writer's block, lack of motivation and other barriers to your learning. I always bring a friendly, relaxed and supportive approach to my teaching which is tailored to develop your unique strengths.

I am an experienced and committed educator with extensive teaching experience in UK higher and further education. I've taught and tutored large classes, small groups and 1:1 at BA/BSc, MA/MSc and PhD level and have experience in a broad range of topics typically taught at history, cultural heritage and archaeology programmes at UK universities, and I am an expert in cutting-edge teaching techniques as a Fellow of Advance HE. I have a strong track record of success in improving students' exam and essay technique, as well as their ability to analyse & evaluate sources in depth, and understand core methodological and historiographical concepts. My pedagogical approach centres students as individuals who have individual needs, challenges and strengths.
My tutoring brings out the best in you and helps you build confidence in your knowledge, your skills and your critical thinking and writing skills. I enjoy engaging with students of all ages and abilities and (language) backgrounds. Lessons with me will last 50 minutes.
