About Charles
My name is Charles and I always had a passion for teaching others. My qualifications are a PhD and 2.1 bachelors in Materials Engineering from Loughborough University, along three A levels in maths, physics and chemistry. I am now self employed and set my own hours, meaning I am free to tutor others whenever needed.

I do all types of tutoring, whether it is targeted tutoring for a specific subject area within the STEM field, or if you are looking for a whole syllabus of extra lessons, I can create a learning experience that will work. I enjoy the process of finding different ways to teach people, which gives me great satisfaction from tutoring work. I am also able to do home-schooling work as I am free during the day-time, please get in touch to discuss.
I work predominantly on student-led feedback, so if it is clear a student understands a concept, we will move on to the next subject to find somewhere to improve. I do not believe in generic lesson teaching, so all of my tutoring sessions will be tailored to the student, while ensuring we cover all of the subject matter at hand (whether that be GCSE, A Level, or a specific concept within those). I have two young children in primary school, so I have recently been directly involved with teaching maths to a much younger audience as well.
As for specific experience, I have tutored several people through their maths GCSEs, along with teaching and guiding fellow students through their studies while at university. I taught and marked laboratory examinations during my PhD at Loughborough, with a total student count of about 300 students having been taught by me.
My lessons start at half an hour (if we are just problem solving one particular area of a subject), but usually I prefer to take out a course of lessons after an initial one hour to see where we are both at.
Please do get in touch with me and we can discuss how to go forward. I am confident I can help you get to where you need to be.
