My approach is to understand the student's perspective vis-a-vis a given problem/topic. Then to address the cognitive and conceptual obstacles making hindrance in learning. Going from intuition to some experiment and then abstract formulation is the most appealing method a student finds helpful in learning, and I believe in this approach.
