About Romek
I am a PhD-trained physicist and R&D engineer with a First-Class degree in Mathematics with Physics and over four years of teaching experience at university level. During my PhD at the University of Glasgow, I worked as a tutor-demonstrator supporting undergraduate mathematics, physics, and computational classes through small-group teaching and one-to-one guidance.
Alongside tutoring, I currently work in industry as an R&D engineer developing simulation software and applying mathematics and physics to real-world engineering problems. This allows me to bring both academic depth and practical insight into my lessons.
My teaching approach is patient, structured, and supportive. I understand that many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because subjects are often presented in a way that feels inaccessible or intimidating. Having come to science through a non-traditional route myself, I aim to create lessons where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing confidence in their own problem-solving ability.
I work with students from GCSE and Highers through to A-level and selected university topics, tailoring lessons to each student’s goals and learning style.

I focus on building a clear understanding of maths and physics by breaking complex ideas into simple, structured steps. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and tailored to each student’s level and learning style. Rather than relying on memorisation, I encourage students to understand the reasoning behind methods and formulae, helping them become more confident and independent problem-solvers.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged for exam preparation or university-level topics. Lessons usually combine explanation, guided examples, and worked problems, with plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion. I also place strong emphasis on exam technique and approaching unfamiliar questions calmly and logically.
I have over four years of teaching experience gained during my PhD at the University of Glasgow, where I worked as a tutor-demonstrator supporting undergraduate mathematics, physics, and computational classes. This involved small-group teaching, laboratory support, and one-to-one guidance for students with a wide range of abilities.
I teach Maths and Physics at GCSE, National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher, and A-level, as well as selected undergraduate topics. I particularly enjoy helping students who feel stuck or lack confidence develop a more positive relationship with the subject.

I’m really happy to recommend my brother, Romek as a tutor on Superprof. I’ve known him my whole life, so I’ve seen firsthand how patient, supportive and genuinely passionate he is about helping people learn.
What I appreciate most about his teaching style is how he explains things in a simple, calm way and adapts to whoever he’s teaching. He never makes you feel rushed or judged, and he’s great at breaking down tricky topics into small, manageable steps.
I used to be terrified of maths and had zero confidence in it. When he helped me prepare for an exam, he made everything feel much less overwhelming. He created a clear plan, explained things in a way that finally clicked, and kept encouraging me when I felt stuck. Thanks to him, I actually started to enjoy maths and felt so much more confident.
Romek really cares about his students and their progress, and I’m sure anyone who learns with him will feel supported and motivated.
I 100% recommend him to future students!Romek is passionate about maths and physics and has a real talent for explaining difficult concepts in a way that is clear and approachable. This makes him an excellent tutor who is patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in his students’ success.
I’ve seen firsthand how dedicated he is to helping students achieve their goals. He has the natural ability to adapt his teaching style to each student’s needs, whether they are preparing for exams, struggling with fundamentals, or aiming for top grades.
I would highly recommend Romek to anyone looking for a supportive and highly effective tutor in maths or physics.View more recommendations
