About Taylor Leigh
I am a PhD-qualified researcher and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, with a formal qualification to teach in higher education through the UK Professional Standards Framework for Higher Education Teaching. I have taught master’s-level courses and have supported undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral researchers.
I completed a four-year PhD in Information Security at Royal Holloway, University of London, funded by EPSRC through the Centre for Doctoral Training in Cyber Security for the Everyday. I also hold an MLitt in International Business from the University of St Andrews and a triple-major BA in Arts Leadership and Administration, New Media Design, and Art History from Queen’s University of Charlotte, where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
My additional professional qualifications and training include Government Research Policy Training, Foundations in Research and Innovation through BIONIC, Leadership Principles from Harvard Business School, and International Project Management from Rochester Institute of Technology.
I have 10 years of research experience and have worked on studies involving more than 750 participants across the UK, USA, Canada, Thailand, Uganda and Ghana. My methodological experience includes interviews, focus groups, ethnography, participant observation, surveys, story-completion methods and reflexive thematic analysis.
I have mentored PhD students, delivered training to postgraduate researchers. I also have seven years of experience preparing high-level research ethics applications.
My research interests include human-centred cybersecurity, privacy, responsible AI, digital health, FemTech, technology-facilitated abuse, user research and the wider social impacts of technology. My teaching style is friendly, practical and supportive. I enjoy helping students make sense of complicated ideas and become more confident in their own academic abilities.

I offer personalised online tutoring for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students who would like support with qualitative research, dissertation development, academic writing, research ethics or human-centred cybersecurity.
Lessons can cover:

• Understanding cybersecurity, privacy, responsible AI and technology’s social impacts
Each lesson is adapted to your course, research stage and individual goals. We will begin by identifying what you need help with and then break the work into clear, manageable steps.
My role is to help you understand the subject, develop your ideas and strengthen your independent academic skills. I can provide teaching and constructive feedback on your work, but I do not write assessed assignments or dissertations on behalf of students.
