About Karen
Hi! I'm Karen — a dedicated Maths and Physics tutor with over 10 years of experience teaching students from all academic backgrounds.
● I hold a Bachelor’s in Physics and Mathematics, a Master’s in Applied Physics (focused on biosensors and plasmonics), and I’m currently pursuing a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Nottingham.
● Throughout my career, I’ve helped more than 350 students, from young learners (age 7+) to postgraduate level. My students often come to me feeling overwhelmed or stuck — and together we build clarity, confidence, and solid understanding.
----------------------------------------
I’ve worked with:
○ Middle and high school students who need patient, structured guidance
○ College students preparing for physics and engineering courses
○ Adults returning to education and refreshing their math foundation
○ International students adjusting to new academic systems
○ Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, or ADHD — supporting them with extra clarity, flexibility, and encouragement
----------------------------------------
My teaching is all about explaining complex topics in a way that feels simple and intuitive, while adapting to each student’s unique learning style.

The foundation of my teaching is simple: build confidence by strengthening your understanding of the basics. Many difficulties in maths and physics come from small gaps in early knowledge — once we identify and address those, progress becomes natural and sustainable.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
● I usually begin with a short diagnostic exercise or informal discussion to understand your current level. From there, I create a personalised study plan tailored to your goals, pace, and learning style.
● You’ll always know why you're doing something, not just how. My goal is to help you truly understand the reasoning behind each step, not just memorise procedures.
● Students often tell me I explain things in a way that finally makes sense — because I adapt my explanations to your way of thinking. This approach makes learning feel much easier, and often, even enjoyable.
○ I’ve supported learners as young as 7 years old, as well as students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs), such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD — offering extra clarity, patience, and reassurance throughout the learning process.
○ If you’re preparing for an exam or a specific course, I also provide targeted worksheets, summary materials, and exam techniques to help you feel ready and confident.
I have received excellent reviews on my Superprof MX profile, where I’m recognised as an Ambassador tutor for consistently high standards and results.
