About William

I'm William, a clinical psychology PhD student with both a B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. Over the past several years I've tutored students one-on-one, served as a collegiate teaching assistant, and worked as an active researcher with published work on advanced statistical and methodological topics. Teaching quantitative and psychological material isn't something I do on the side—it's central to my training and my daily work.
That background means a few things for you. I know these subjects at a deep level, from introductory coursework through graduate methods, so I can explain them clearly at whatever level you need. I've stood at the front of college classrooms and guided students through material they thought they'd never grasp, so I understand where people get stuck and how to get them unstuck. And because I'm a practicing researcher, I can show you how statistics and methods are actually used—not just how to pass the test, but how the ideas hold together.
I take this work seriously and treat every student professionally: I come prepared, I'm reliable and responsive, and I tailor each session to your goals rather than running a one-size-fits-all script. My aim is simple—to help you build real confidence in material that often feels intimidating, and to help you reach your highest potential.

I'm William, and the first thing I do with any new student is figure out where they actually want to end up. Sometimes that's a specific grade, sometimes it's an exam that's coming up fast, sometimes it's one concept that's been quietly ruining their week, and sometimes it's getting into a program they really care about. Once I know the destination, I plan the work backward from it.
I don't really believe in lecturing at people. Most students who feel lost aren't missing intelligence—they're missing a clear path from what they already understand to the thing in front of them. So I meet them where they are and build that bridge. With anything quantitative, I'd rather a student understand why something works before they memorize how to do it, because once the intuition is there, they can rebuild the steps on their own even if the formula slips their mind.
A typical session is pretty simple. We start with a quick check-in—what made sense since last time, what's coming up, what's stressing you out. Then we spend most of the time on whatever matters most right now: I'll explain it plainly, walk through a few examples, and then hand the wheel over so you're the one working problems while I coach. We wrap up by pulling out the main takeaways and setting a little practice to keep it fresh until next time. If you need steady week-to-week support, that's what we do; if there's a test or deadline bearing down, we shift into focused-prep mode.
What I care about most is that the work stays tied to your goals instead of some generic script. Whether you're trying to survive a hard class, finally make a method click, or land a spot in a competitive program, my job is to help you get there with real confidence—and to help you reach your highest potential.
