About Liam
My name is Liam Pinchbeck and I am currently undergoing a PhD in particle physics at the University of Monash. I really enjoy teaching because I get to go back to the fundamentals that underlie my own research. Another thing that I enjoy when teaching, is when a student has been having trouble with a particular concept for quite a while and they almost give up on really understanding it. Then, we have a session, sometimes only 5 to 10 minutes in, and you can see a light-bulb pop up through there eyes. The relief or joy at that moment really makes teaching fun.

Being a PhD student in particle physics, I'm able to elaborate and break apart concepts and ideas to help you on your "VCE journey" as well as inform you of there relevance to more real world applications and uses. I especially enjoy teaching when there is some cross-over with my own research interests, which you may be surprised to find is quite often.
The typical length of the my sessions are one hour. I cannot say exactly how our sessions would go as it changes quite a bit depending on the student.
I can say that for a couple students spent a lot of time purely doing questions when studying, I bring them back to the original concepts and either try to further develop the ideas behind the questions they've done, or will do, or expand them a little beyond what may be taught at high school.
But again, this may be entirely different for you as everyone approaches maths and physics in separate and interesting ways.
