About Ariel
I am currently a PhD student in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology with a Bachelor of Science as a medical laboratory scientist. My background includes working in clinical laboratories across microbiology, hematology, chemistry, and transfusion medicine, where I saw how classroom concepts directly impact real-world decisions in healthcare.
These science disciplines did not always come easily to me, so I understand what it feels like to struggle with difficult material. Because of that experience, I learned how to break complex concepts down until they truly make sense. This perspective helps me relate to students and guide them through challenging topics with clarity and patience.
My goal is to help students move beyond memorization and build a deep conceptual understanding so they can confidently solve new problems and apply what they learn.

My tutoring approach is built on real understanding, not memorization. I focus on helping students learn the principle behind the concept so they can apply it confidently to many different types of questions, not just repeat steps they have seen before. I like using application to solidify learning because that is where students usually begin to see how the material actually works.
A typical lesson starts by identifying the student’s “muddiest point,” or the concept that still feels unclear. From there, I connect the topic to material they have already learned, strengthen the essential foundation, and then model how to work through a problem while explaining why I am approaching it that way. After that, I have the student work through similar problems so I can spot stumbling blocks, address them directly, and help the student build confidence.
What sets me apart is that I bring both academic depth and real-world application. I hold a Bachelor of Science as a medical laboratory scientist, and I am currently a PhD student in Microbiology and Immunology. I use these disciplines regularly in research and understand their relevance in both wet-lab and healthcare settings. I have also taken doctoral-level coursework in pedagogy, so I care not only about knowing the material, but about teaching it well.
I tutor students in college-level general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, human biology courses such as microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, hematology, and transfusion medicine, as well as math through pre-calculus.
