About Rowan
I'm a PhD student researching wastewater chemistry at Cranfield. My BSc was in Biomedical chemistry, and I have a wide knowledge base of biology and chemistry, as well as mathematics. I have been a private tutor for a number of years to students as young as 8 as well as 17 and 18 year olds studying for A levels. I pride myself on my patience and communication skills, and helping my tutee develop the skills to guide their own learning as well as helping them with academic issues. I am also LGBT+ and Neurodiversity friendly - feel free to discuss any concenrns with me!

I like to work through problems with the student, helping them through points they struggle with and helping them through frustration. I find that building confidence in the tutee's own ability crucial, as well as helping them understand how it is they themselves learn and think. I see myself as more of a tutor than a teacher - helping the student learn for themselves, rather than spoon feeding them the correct answer.
