About Tony
In addition to my experience and qualifications as an instrumentalist, I have a Masters Degree in Music composition and technology from Keele University. In 2014 I settled in Kingston Upon Hull to complete my PhD in electroacoustic sound design and live performance at Hull University (affiliated with Huddersfield University) after being awarded a scholarship as part of the North of England Consortium in Arts and Humanities (NECAH). I teach Music Technology, visual programming in MAX/MSP, Sound Production using a range of DIgital Audio Work Stations (DAW) including Logic Pro and Ableton Live (including Max for Live - M4L programming). I also instruct GCSE Edexcel Music. I was Co-Principal Trombone of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra, Spain and Principal Trombone of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban, South Africa for many years. I have trialled at the final selection stage with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and I regularly work as a freelance musician with the principal Symphony Orchestras and ensembles in Britain and overseas: these include the Halle Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, Psappha ensemble, Manchester Camerata and many more. I have also appeared as a soloist on BBC Radio 3 'Hear & Now', worked with Elbow on the 2012 Olympic music, and other genres in commercial music.

I teach all aspects of music theory and instrumental technique for brass instruments, with an emphasis on musicality and the enjoyment of music making at all levels and ages; using techniques collected from many years working with some of the best musicians and teachers in the World. While classically trained I teach a wide range of genres from classical, pop to jazz ensuring students get a solid foundation in basic technique and sound production. Many of my students have gone on to work in music and study at some of the UK's most celebrated Music Conservatoires, all have discovered how the love of music can enrich their lives.
