About Maia
I'm a PhD student studying evolutionary biology at the University of Toronto. I'm a teaching assistant for undergraduate courses and enjoy helping students get curious about science and succeed academically. I've also held positions teaching both children and adults in classroom settings! A fun fact about me is that I research the formation of new species using microscopic nematodes in the lab!

Best suited to teach middle school, high school or university students taking biology courses. Focused on making memorization-heavy courses easier, helping make organized study schedules and create useful course notes. I lean into whichever learning style works best for my students (visual, auditory, spatial, etc) and focus on making my lessons inclusive for learners of all abilities. Also happy to help work through difficult practice problems/exams and facilitate preparation for midterms and finals. Lessons can be online or in-person (in Toronto)!
