About Juanita
Throughout my life, I have been driven by a passion for both the doing and learning of science. This led me to pursue an undergraduate degree at Cornell University in Human Biology, Health, and Society. Following this, I received my M.A. in Science Education in 2019. I am currently enrolled in a doctoral program, where I study Educational Psychology, the science of learning. I love animals, nature, and exploring the intricacies of the natural world with others. I look forward to learning alongside you!

I believe that science is a lifelong learning experience that should be accessible to all. I offer a variety of tools and strategies to foster intrinsic motivation for learning and a growth mindset.
The structure of my lesson is flexible based on the needs of the learner. Typically, I like to begin with activities that connect the learner's prior knowledge and experiences with the course content they will be learning. This helps me to identify areas of strength and areas that our sessions can focus on for improvement. I then utilize strategies such as modeling, worked examples, discussion, and multimodal visual supports to teach the content and skills involved in the biological sciences.
Currently, I offer lessons for Living Environment Regents, AP Environmental Science, and Anatomy and Physiology courses for middle school and high school students.
