About Benjamin
I hold a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Bristol, where I specialise in soft condensed matter physics with a focus on topological phenomena in liquid crystals and functional nanomaterials. My academic background includes an MSci (Integrated Masters) in Physics and two years of undergraduate Mathematics, providing me with a broad and deep understanding across both disciplines

I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring at university level, having taught undergraduate Physics and Mathematics as part of my doctoral training. I have won awards for my teaching, which emphasises deep conceptual understanding over rote memorisation. I use a discussion-led approach to foster curiosity and critical thinking, and I support this with well-structured examples and problem-solving sessions tailored to the needs of each student. My aim is to make complex topics accessible, engaging and meaningful, whether it’s mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum theory, or advanced calculus. I also support A-Level and GCSE students, adapting my methods to suit individual learning styles and goals.
