About Anaaya

Hi! I'm Anaaya, a rising senior at Phillips Exeter Academy, where I've been a High Honors student for the past 3 years. (Before Exeter, I attended Fay School in Southborough, MA for 10 years.)

Throughout my rigorous academic career, I have served as a tutor for both my peers and younger students, and I truly value the importance of an open, supportive learning environment. I believe that all questions are worth asking, and that learning from our mistakes leads to growth and true success!

I've studied Latin for 5 years, including three years at the Honors and college level, and have worked with complex authors such as Caesar, Apuleius, Cicero, and Ovid. As someone who is passionate about Roman and Greek mythology, I understand both the rewards and challenges of learning an ancient language and enjoy helping students build confidence in their reading, grammar, and translation skills.

Additionally, I am a dedicated STEM student with a strong passion for mathematics and the life sciences. I have been enrolled in advanced and Honors mathematics courses throughout my education and enjoy helping students develop both problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of the concepts behind the material.

I strive to make learning engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student's needs. I look forward to helping students achieve their academic goals and gain confidence in their abilities, while nurturing their love of learning.

About the lesson

In my lessons, I prioritize structure and a productive (but comfortable) environment to ensure that my students can have the best learning experience. My goal is to meet students where they are academically, helping them build confidence while strengthening the foundational skills they need to become independent and successful learners.

At Exeter, I have completed the Accelerated/Honors Mathematics curriculum and developed a strong conceptual understanding of advanced mathematics. In Latin, I have studied the language for five years, including Honors and college-level coursework, earned a Magna Cum Laude distinction on the National Latin Exam, and delivered a Ciceronian-style speech as part of my studies. In science, I completed a lab-focused Antibiotic Research course at Brown University and am currently participating in a selective medical internship at a private clinic.

To make our sessions as effective as possible, I require that my students send me any material they would like to review about a day before the lesson so that I can create the most organized, helpful, and personally tailored plan for our time together.

I believe the key to success, no matter if I'm tutoring Math, Latin, or Science, is hard work and practice. I'm more than happy to work with students during a lesson and then provide extra problems/practice pages if needed!
