About Rebecca
HI, I;m Becky and I am a Philosophy graduate from the University of Exeter. I have 6 years experience tutoring Maths and since graduating I have completed the TEFL Course (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) in order to teach Maths in Thailand.
I think the most important thing with Maths is practice and learning from mistakes. Getting a question wrong helps you to understand the correct way to answer that question in the future!
Within my Philosophy course I took a module which allowed me to teach Philosophy in a school. I also completed a logic module which engaged my maths skills and clear reasoning. Philosophy enables me to critically analyse arguments and be concise, skills which are very important in Maths. Being methodical in your working means you are able to break down any complex question into its foundations in order to answer it. I also understand that every individual learns and works differently, my background in both the sciences, humanities and arts gives me the ability to help anyone, of any ability and that is what I aim to do!

I like to help students through the use of exam questions and worked examples. It is important that my students feel confident to ask me questions as this helps me to follow their thought process and pinpoint the areas that they are experiencing difficulty. Often, it is the case that a student may only find one aspect of a question difficult and this can prevent them from grasping a topic or fully completing the question. I teach by breaking topics down into their foundations which allows for good practice in being clear and concise when answering an exam paper.
