About Hugo

Since as early as I can remember, I have always been naturally inquisitive about fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason and mind. As such, I have paired my inquisitive nature to harbour around the disciplines of Philosophy, Law, Political Sciences, Tourism, English and History.

On top of having 4 distinctions and a 78% average at matric, I have never repeated a single module during varsity and have multiple certificates for excellence in research and distinctions in 6 modules across my 5 years in university (UKZN PMB), where I obtained a BA majoring in law, politics and philosophy, alongside an Honors in Philosophy (2025), with my overall grading never dropping below 63%. My honours research project was supervised by Dr. Carin Robinson, who was also the head of the philosophy department which administered and supervised me as an official philosophy tutor of UKZN. Further, I have had the best of both worlds from being in both private and public institutions and possess a transparent & nuanced perspective on varying students and methods of instruction.

My ultimate goal is not just to redefine academic excellence, but to inspire independence, a genuine love for learning that lasts far beyond our lessons together.

Proficient in both English and isiZulu. My teaching approach is one that is inclusive of audiovisual tools and the utilization of all technological facets including utilizing AI to generate diagrams and create visual aids to assist my students in understanding the content and going beyond standard memorization.

My lessons are both patient and thought-provoking, engaging, and meticulously tailored to each student's individual needs, learning style, and pace. Confidence and preparation breed excellence, and my sessions are tailored to instil those virtues and ensure academic success is inevitable.
