About Gabriel

I have a First Class Honours degree in Philosophy from the University of London, and over nine years’ experience in education and over a decade in the arts as a professional actor and writer. I mainly tutor Philosophy, Ethics, and Religious Studies (specialising in Christianity) up to further education, as well as English and Maths for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. I have worked as a teaching assistant and learning support assistant across various North London schools, supporting the learning of students with different special educational needs and abilities with their reading, writing, numeracy, and speech and verbal communication skills. In total, I have clocked over 500 hours teaching and tutoring experience over the last eight years. I also design and deliver workshops in poetry, creative writing, performance, public speaking, and theatre for people of all ages, abilities, and educational backgrounds. I currently teach an adult course on Spoken Word with the City Academy, and have recently directed and taught two courses with the National Youth Theatre, including their Junior Intake Summer Course in 2021 and receive consistently positive feedback from students, peers, and employers alike. Other organisations and clients have included the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Barbican Centre Creative Learning, the Wellcome Collection, and the National Literacy Trust.

About the lesson

My approach is student led, where depending on the needs of the student, beginning with a short conversation about what they would like to get out of tuition and how best I can help them achieve that. The aim is to create a safe, relaxed, and stimulating space where students feel motivated to do their best work and comfortable enough to make mistakes. But most importantly, I aim to bring seemingly dry, academic material to life.
