About Thom
Hello, my name is Thom and I live in Groningen. During my high school days I was always at the top of my English class. I completed the final exam and school exam with a 9. After having passed my propaedeutic phase, I started studying Philosophy in Groningen, a study program that is (almost) entirely taught in English. Since I also gave football / goalkeeper training outside of school for a number of years, I know what it is like to work with boys and girls who have a lot of difficulty with the given material. My passion lies in Philosophy, political theory in particular. I think it would be a good and fun challenge to help you with your English and Philosophy skills and achieve a good grade for you!
Greetings, Thom Keegstra

No student learns the same, so it is important that a student receives a personalized method for the subjects that the student has difficulty with. My lessons usually consist of the following: Finding out together where the difficulty lies, or what extra do we have to do? (Reading, writing or another component) 1. Mapping tests, quizzes, oral or other test moments. 2. Planning. What do you need to know and for when? This also includes chopping up the material and dividing it over the number of lessons we have. You can thus plan extra difficult parts. 3. Go through the planned material, I prefer to divide it so that we deal with it more than once per lesson. I believe in the power of repetition. I like to end with a short test of the material of that day. This way you know whether you really know everything, but also whether you have encountered new problems that we can tackle immediately or in the next lesson. I plan the workload according to the level of the students, the time to a test and the amount of material. I also ask forthe personal needs of a student. As I said before, no student learns the same and it is important to use an appropriate teaching method.
